There is a large amount of pickup hype that flies around the Internet. Some of it is good, some of it is bad, some of it is amazing, and some of it is seriously misguided.
One of the pickup concepts that fall way short of the mark in terms of REAL psychology is the concept of the 'Alpha Male'. The term comes up so frequently in pickup lingo, that it's easy to assume that everybody knows what this means, and it's even easier to presume that the concept of Alpha Male is a simple and uncontested fact.

WHAT EXACTLY IS CONFIDENCE?
“With confidence, you have won before you have started.” Marcus Garvey In technical terms, confidence is simply one's belief in their ability to perform and succeed at specific tasks and in life in general. It's the belief that one is successful, capable and can do almost anything they put their mind to. In practical terms, confident guys get laid. It’s as simple as that. While the low confident guy is at home watching TV or in the club thinking of the perfect opening line, the confident guy is already talking to the girl he wants and is trying to get her home with him. With confidence you give yourself permission to act and you almost always get good results and enjoy the process. Without it you struggle. Get confidence handled and watch your success in all areas of your life soar.

In 1774, an as yet relatively unknown German author wrote a book entitled “The Sorrows of Young Werther” about a young man who falls in love with a woman he cannot have, and while recovering from a broken heart falls into a spiral of despair eventually ending with his taking his own life. This book touched the hearts of men and women on such a deep level that it spawned the first ever recorded spate of ‘copycat suicides’ in which young people all over Europe took their own lives in the name of love inspired by Young Werther.
The authors name was Goethe, and it even touched Napoleon Bonaparte so deeply that he carried a copy of the book with him throughout Egypt and wrote a soliloquy in Werther’s style. Goethe was without a doubt a brilliant author, but more than literary genius, his book showed that the pain of a broken relationship or the torment of trying to get one’s ex back can be extraordinarily debilitating. It is a pain that men and women around the world throughout the ages have struggled to come to terms with.
